I was born in East Meadow, New York on March 20, 1954 and lived there till third grade. My dad worked on the 78th floor of the Empire State Creating, and probably that in some way inspired Wayside School, who is aware of? When I was 9 several years old, we moved to Tustin California. At that time, there had been orange groves all about, and the local little ones would generally divide up into groups and have orange fights. The "ammo" hung from the trees, though the best ones have been the gushy, rotten ones on the ground. Now most of the orange trees are gone, changed with quickly food eating places, and major box outlets.
